Srm's answer is the best and it really works but combine using the sugar/soapwater with keeping dropped fruit picked up. There are many sprays on the market that work well also but it's better to stay organic.
remove fruit and such from the area. They are there because there is food around.
Put out a small lid (such as mayonaise jar) filled with sweet sugar water. Add a couple of drops of liquid detergent. The sweetness draws them, the detergent coats them, and they drown.
use a fly swater and wack 'em all.
Feed them lots of fruit until they become large fruit flys.
