I cannot tell you the best, but I just purchased a few months ago a maytag, with french doors, and the freezer on the bottom. I do NOT like it at all. The ice maker is big, and takes up a lot of room in the refrige section. It was not working properly, and it took 3 trips, 8 weeks, and a lot of fustrating phone calls to fix it.
