When I was young, there was a vine at a friends house that had flowers that opened every evening. We would?
Question:gather to see them, yelling with excitement when we sptted one opening. Does anyone know what kind of flower this was? It was in Louisiana if that helps. Would it grow in Colorado?
Answers:
There are lots of night bloomers. Colorado is in a very different zone than LA. but it can't hurt to try growing anything you want. Here is a link:

Could have been moonflowers. They bloom in the late afternoon/early evening and remain in bloom throughout the night. Were they white? They are related to the morning glory and can grow on vines up to 20 feet long. Yes it should grow in Colorado. It can grow in poor soil, but needs lots of sunlight.
Most likely they were moonflowers;; The open at night the same way that morning glories open in the morning. Ask at any local nursery.
