Do you need to protect blueberry bushes from birds eating the berries? If so, how?

hi yeah I had the same problem with my cherries. But I found this roll of bright colored non adhesive tape is the best way I can describe it made from alminum foil. It looks like a large roll of tape. You cut off peices about 8 inches long and hang them in different places in your berrys by tieing them on. They flash a couple different colors when a breeze hits them and this scares the birds away. It works great and a big roll of this is less then 5 bucks at home depot or most garden stores. I got some at the end of last year and put some in my cherry and plum trees and haven't seen one bird peck!

Basically, anything that moves will keep most birds away. I have seen ribbon streamers, disposable pie tins and kids whirlybird spinners used. I just put netting over my berry bushes. Found it at Home Depot.
