I've often asked the same question. My mom is one of those people who get bit by everything. Ladybugs, ants, flies, even the little harmless things that don't bite anyone else.
I don't think ladybugs really bite, but it feels like they do because of their feet. They can pinch as they hang on. But I've never heard of an allergic reaction from a ladybug. It might be uncomfortable, but not dangerous.
My parent's house used to get swarmed by ladybugs. I mean millions of the little buggers on the ceilings of their basement, and many more in the upstairs areas. Turns out, they were coming in through the hole left by the DirecTV installers. Where the cable came into the house and they didn't seal up the hole around the wires. A little clear caulk around it kept the problem critters from coming in anymore.
