Filling a 5,500 gallon pool from a well?

Question:I am trying to avoid a $250 charge for somone filling my pool but I don't want to kill my well or pump. Anyone have any suggestions?

Answers:
If you fill from a well it is going to take a long time to get the water to clear up. You might also stain your lining with iron (depending on your water source).

can i make a suggestion? Try your local fire department, it may just be a donation. It might be way to much from your well to fill. Tina
good question!
I just filled my 4000 gallon pool from our well, after much research on the subject.

Should be just fine, fill it over 3 or 4 days though. Don't worry about any rust, you can add a clarifier and vacuum it out (I don't). My filter is rusty, but the water isn't.
The problem with filling from your well is one that you can't see. The aquafer that feeds your well. While you may have plenty of water for your current use, you could draw the water table down by filling the pool. Getting a new and deeper well will cost you more than $250. Try the Fire Departments also. You could also try splitting between delivery and well water to lower your costs.
