Long (1 inch) black flying insect with long sting ?

Question:inch long thin shiny and black, very long looking sting, and very buzzy when flying. Almost armoured, not easy to kill ! any ideas please ?

Answers:
I'm searching the net for the same kind of bug, I think! My 7 year old just got stung by something..hard to ask the doc for advice on what to do when I don't know what it was. All I could say is that it was long and skinny and completely black. The one that stung her was really quiet though, no "buzzing" noise. Please post an update if you find out what it was though.

Good luck with your search!

use a flyswatter ,after that use your foot to step on .
Sounds like we have a foreign invader which I haven't seen yet. It must be due to our warmer weather.
Can you get a picture? Also your location would help.
It's called a mud dobber. The "stinger" on it does not sting.Look up on a porch or roof overhang for the nest. It is made from mud.
I know what you mean - I've had 2 in my house last summer. They freaked me out too! I have no idea what they are called though, sorry. I hope somebody does, I'd like to know too.
try looking up a STAG BEETLE.
