What do you like to see at a garage sale?

Question:We're preparing to host one later this month and I need some advice/tips/suggestions/ideas on how to make it attractive for buyers and easy for us to manage.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Answers:
There is no easy answer to hosting a garage sale. Some people like junk, some like antiques at good prices, some like collectables etc. Have a wide variety don't make your prices to low. You can always go down in price but you can't go up and you will always have people asking for it cheaper or as the day goes on you can reduce the prices. I have heard that some people make more money selling coffee. To attract people into the sale have something interesting or weird outside so they will stop and want to come in to see what you have. Good luck and get lots of rest before hand

Authentic Tiffany lamps for $5 or less.
yard tools, antique vases, old dolls. curtains, and free hot dogs.
if you have lots of stuff that is presented nicely people will come to see what it is.

If you only have a little stuff, or if it looks like crap thrown on a table without any care I wouldn't stop. I like it when people sort their stuff into categories etc... Generally I like to look at old dishes, neat vases, tins, stuff I could use to decorate uniquely etc.
ummm well i guess funriture, tools, electronics, random figures and antiques, kids like toys... and just a big selection with stuff that appeals to everyone (guys, girls, kids, old people...)
oh and lemonade and cookies ( ;
if its spring put spades plants flower pots and other things for spring if its winter put shovels summer soccer balls and other balls and hiking sticks and fall put rakes and coats things getting ready for winter

also put lamps shelves books toys and most important tapes and videos! the videos will take about 1 hour of their day and parents like when the chidren enjoy their days.

glad to help
i don't feel comfortable when going to a yard sale to see a bunch of sellers watching me all lined up in chairs. go sit over to the side somewhere. I also don't like it when things aren't marked. You have to pick up everything and keep asking 'how much is this?, how much is this?'
You should just make sections by price. You would have a $1 section where everything is a dollar, and a $5 section where everything is five dollars, etc,etc... Then you can reduce the need for change that way.
Everyone like clothes and home goods at yard sales, but a really great seller is Fashion Jewelry! The lowest priced site out there is www.CheapWholesaleJewelry.com. They have alot of jewelry and alot of it is under $3. They also have sunglasses which sell for everyone!
Good Luck with your yard sale! Hope you make alot of money. :)
Beware of early morning mongers! They'll come a buy all your good items right away and try to give you half price for everything. If you have a lot of good hot items (furniture, bikes, antiques, etc.) Space them out so you don't sell them the first 5 minutes and then no one is attracted to you garage sale.
