How do you get rid of poison ivy in the ground?

Question:there's no grass currently, but I want to plant some.
is there a chemical that works?

Answers:
Check on Tuflon. I know it kills ivy which is really tough.

Pramitol would definately work but will not grow anything there for a year!

There is a new roundup made for poison ivy control. Not sure if it works though.
