Do I have Air Conditioning? How does it work?
Question:I just moved into a new 'energy efficient' rental home that had been vacant for 6 months. I'm confused about the cooling.
There is an AC unit outside the house. Inside the house is a closet with a big silver box that says Aquatherm with lots of tubes leading into it. On the wall outside the closet is a small box with a digital display that says Aircycler Stat that has 3 buttons: an arrow up, an arrow down and a square. And finally, above that box is a switch, like a lightswitch. If I flip the switch on, in a few seconds the unit outside and the Aquatherm turn themselves on and the digital display starts to blink numbers and letters. It blinks 'CL' and 66 and the other number changes from 78-85 range. If I press buttons nothing changes.
Air seems to circulate through house but it's not really cool, it's just moving. The ownership & property manager is changing and I can't get anyone to call me.
How does this work? How do I make this thing cool the house? Is there a thermostat?
Answers:
It sounds like you probably do have air conditioning. The key is your thermostat -- the box with the digital display. Check this and see if it helps:
