How can you get rid of flies?
Question:I just moved to a new home and it seems that their are flies all around the house. At first I thought it was the trash can but its not because I moved it away from the house. I think it might be the dirt but I'm not sure. We do not live like dirty pigs, we keep our home very clean but these flies are still everywhere. Does anyone know how to get rid of them?
Answers:
It's probably in the soil, someone may have spread fertilizer on the lawn before you bought the house

Get a professional exterminator. If you have livestock nearby, good luck.
If you liver near horses you will be awash in black flies and it would require the owners of the horses to add something to the feed or use a parasite that feast on black flies. The questions answer how ever depends on the type of fly and that requires identification. once you have determined the type ask the question again or refer to a pest control company.
The flies are terrible this year for some reason. I see tons of flies everywhere and never have seen so many before this year.
CALL THE INSPECTOR HE WILL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT
Farms back in the 40s & 50s used to use fly traps - it was a large jar with a top that allowed entrance into the jar, but not out of it (similar to the yellow jacket traps being sold today but huskier). You'd put some hamburger in the bottom and then place it as far from the house (and the neighbors as possible). As the meat rotted, it called the flies who went into the jar and couldn't get out.
There are instructions for a slightly different type at http://horse-talk.com/horsetalk24.html...
