Recently my house is beginning to smell like heating oil. What could be the root causes? What should I check?

Question:

Answers:
If you heat with oil, could be a plugged vent on the furnace. Or a leak in the fuel line itself. Have the tank and lines checked by your oil company, and if they offer the service the furnace itself.

You may have a leak...call the furnace company.
Do you heat with fuel oil? if so I would look at the tank in your basement or your inlet pipe. If not check to see if an old unused tank mab be present and ruptured from rust. If your house is older this is possible. last if neither is the cause check your shorts. LOL just kidding.
