You need to start looking for the source of the problem outside. That is usually where the problem started. First, if you are feeding wild squirrels, STOP! They cause a lot of flea and tick problems and you usually can't catch them and treat them! Second, look at all of the foliage around your house. Trim up any bushes, tree, and shrubs that are hanging to the ground. I usually recommend that they are brought up 1 to 2 feet from the ground. This drys up the areas that the ticks live and breed. Ticks love dark, damp areas, so keep a look out for that type of environment. Clean up any yard waste in areas the dogs can get to. (Remember, ticks like tight spaces, so branches, leaves, etc are prefect breeding grounds!) Finally, treat your yard with a high quality pesticide or insecticide. I personally like Demon WP. This is a fairly expensive product, but it has a long shelf life and kills the dickens out of fleas and ticks! You can find it at most do-it-yourself pest control companies, on-line, or even on e-Bay! Good luck!
Try keeping the grass and other foliage cut short. Keep any foliage in the area of the woods cut short if you can. A distance of three feet is about right. Then go to a garden supply center, and see what they recommend to eliminate any ticks that are present.
great answer above me,beau, also, they hate cedar chips, perhaps some sprinkled at the edge of the woods would help
