Do I still need to replace my frig filter/6-months if I have installed an RO sytem to it from my kitchen sink.

Question:I have about a year that I installed an Reverse Osmosis system at my kitchen sink and connected my refrigerators water supply to my RO system. However, I wonder if I am just wasting my money continueing to replace the refrigerator filter. Can I just install a bypass valve or something, so that There is no need to continue replacing RO filters as well as refrigerator filters?

Answers:
It's connected to your RO system so the fridge filter is not necessary, the manufacturer has a "bypass plug" that you screw in, in place of the filter, GE does, I'm sure the others are the same. Our filter would only last a month to six weeks (well system) and there were other reasons so we installed a whole house filter and bypassed the fridge filter. Hope this helped :-)

The water from your RO system should be so pure that there is nothing left to filter out of it. The refrigerator filter is redundant and can be eliminated.

Are your ice cubes clear when you use the RO water? I also have an RO system but have not yet hooked it up to my refrigerator. My problem is that I'd have to go overhead because the refrigerator is on the wall opposite the sink. Clear ice cubes might give me reason to go to the trouble.
