I planted some garlic how do i know when its ready?

Question:I am not into gardening at all, someone at work told me that to grow garlic you just push a clove into the ground, i did several cloves and i now have 6 -8 plants. what i don't know is when i can pull them up. The biggest one looks like a subtainal sping onion at the moment. How long do i have to wait?!?

Answers:
You wait until the tops go brown and die off. Then you dig them up and lay them down on some newspaper to dry out for a couple of weeks, then you can braid them together, or tie them up and hang in kitchen. They will last for ages. Be careful not to water cloves too much, or you will rot them. Good Luck!

when the flowers stem and leaves dry out totally.

Harvesting Your Garlic Crop
As garlic reaches maturity, the leaves will brown then die away. This is the cue that it is time to harvest your garlic crop. If you harvest too early the cloves will be very small, too late and the bulb will have split.
Once picked, it is essential that garlic is dried properly, otherwise it will rot. The bulbs are often hung up in a cool, dry place. After a week or so, take them down and brush the dirt off gently - don't wash the bulbs at this stage.

Then enjoy the delicious results of growing your own garlic in your own garden.
the garlic is ready when dracular stays away from your garden
Till they're ripe. Be patient. The plants will try to flower. Prevent flowering by bending the flower stalk over and pinching it. Don't cut it off as water may collect in the hollow stem and cause rot. Eventually, the leaves will begin to turn yellow just as daffodil leaves do after flowering. Your garlic is now ready for harvesting! Don't be too disapointed when it does'nt look like the grocery store chemically enhanced garlic, it's still garlic. Want better results next year? Plant the cloves in October and allow them to winter over.
You shuld pul tgem out around no.when they r the size of a spring onion.
When the leaves turn yellow the cloves are ripe. Dig up gently, and hang in bunches to dry. If you do not have space to hang them, store in boxes of dry sand
until required.
