The only poisonous snakes in Tennessee are the copperhead, the cottonmouth, and the timber rattlesnake. Your description doesn't sound like any of those.
i am not sure.. but i did see a product at home depot called snake away pellets... i was curious and read the back while i waited on my dad. maybe this is something that you could use to keep ur kids safer?
i belive it may be an eastern diamond back.. but not sure.
Look up species od snakes on the internet.
Or you can call and ask a trained handler.
U might want to be very very very careful...
U never really know which snakes are poisonous unless ur an expert.
try to keep ur pets inside as well, unless you want Rover to be the tester to see if the snake is poisonous..
Goto to http://www.trailquest.net/snpoi.html... for more info on poisonous snakes.
Look at eastern diamondback rattler

I remember years ago when I used to baby sit, the children and I were walking from the store. We ran into the same kind of snake curled up on the ground. I froze, just so happened a young man was walking and I manage to get his attention. If, I remember correctly he did mention it was poisonous. He got a stick and told me and the children "when I count to three run like hell". Now, I have heard people say if you put down lime it will kill them, the lime burns their skin. Also, place golf balls in the yard, what happens is they swallow the golf balls thinking they are rats and onced they do that they can't digested them and choke. So if anyone can correct or add to that please do so.
In Asia, we will use yellow sulphur to keep away the snakes. Try so sprinkle them around your perimeter of your yard, This will keep all snakes out and away from the yard, posionous or not...
