Best way to get rid of mice in the house?

PS: Btw, I have a cat and she doesn't help at all!

Answers:
They have mouse traps that the mouse goes into ..The trap closes and you don't even have to touch the dead mouse..I used it once and it works!

give ya cat the boot & get onother one.
a W.W.11 flame thrower should do the trick
your cat must be having friendship with the mice, change it. traps wont work
Rat & mouse killer pellets from your local supermarket or hardway store.
Try to find the source of the infestation, which may be next door or an empty block way off.
You might need a professional firm if its really bad.
I was going to say those sticky glue papers but if you have a
cat it might get caught in it. That is how we got rid of ours.
there was one trap that catches them alive its like a little
plastic box you put food in it and they go in and the little
trap door closes behind them. that way the cat would be
safe. Or call an exterminator. Good Luck!
get an exterminator. I had mice this fall. They install sealed poison that's save around children and pets. It has a chemical that makes the mice "dry up". So if they die behind the walls they won't smell. My exterminator told me that mice urinate everywhere they go. That is the way the tell other mice how to get into the house. You need to get rid of them and them buy pet urine remover(like for dogs) and spray it around your baseboards to get rid of the urine.
Starve the cat and she will hunt the mice. Use mousetraps - the old fashioned ones with the spring and spike for the cheese.
The cat will eat poison so dont use that and make sure the traps are positioned so she cant get near them.
Try to find where they are coming from and poison the nest.

I see the old maid is out tonight
sticky traps. put food in the middle of the trap to lure the mice.
Sorry your cat isnt doing the job ( mine catches them all the time inside the house and out) Try sticky tape traps. I tried the clothes line traps with peanut butter and they sometimes work but most of the time didnt!! In areas my animals and children couldnt get to(behind fridge and stove) I used the edible poison. Keep your floor and counters clean (under microwave and toaster) and all food in plastic containers or the fridge. Most of the time they are just looking for food and if they cant find any the will move on. If you dont mind snakes try one in the walls. We lived on a farm with mice everywhere til we had a snake take home in the walls within a month I never saw a mouse again!!
Seal all entrances, cracks, holes etc. Anything even penny size they can get in. Trim trees, brush and branches away from the house. Block them out first.

Poisen works good the nastier poisens work best, stricnine is better than warrafin but mush more dangerous to pets and children. Poisened mice also go and hide and die...so they stink.
Glue traps work well but seem very very cruel.

The old mouse trap works fine. Bait with peanutbutter. Check each morning. Use three times more than you think you will need. Put them in every cupboard and along the walls and up in the attic.

Good luck.
I had mice in the house a few years ago (they got into my wardrobe and ate 4 Easter eggs from the inside out... I NEARLY gave half-chewed eggs as gifts!).

I soaked cotton wool balls in peppermint oil and placed them around where I thought they were coming in.

I never saw mice or any droppings again.
Try cat nip.
Hi there, try putting peanut butter on traps or saucers around your house. Mice apparently have a peanut allergy so i've heard and this sends them into shock. But they still cant resist trying peanut butter cos of the smell. Not had this problem so not tried it. Let us know how you get on!!
I managed to get rid of our invaders by using humane traps and gooey chocolate cake.
I did try peanut butter as someone else has already suggested but with no luck...chocolate's much tastier.
Wal-Mart sells a trap that the mouse can go into but can't get out of and I bought one once. I loved it. I now have a cat.
