Are pillow top mattresses sturdy?
Question:A salesman was telling me that he does not recommend pillowtop mattresses because the pillowtop portion will sink in a realtively quick amount of time. Is that true? Is it better to get a flat top (or whatever the right term is)
Answers:
We've had a pillowtop for 7 years and it has yet to "sink in" at all. I think the salesman was just trying to get you to buy a more expensive model.
yea
only very expensive ones. the cheap ones pillow top wears down like a real pillow.
We've had a pillowtop for almost 4 years and it hasn't sunk yet.
I would stay away from pillow top matresses. I have one and I loved it for the first month. But after that it started to sink down and I think it is leading to my back hurting sometimes. There is just not a lot of support for your back.
Depends on your size. For us the pillow top squished within 2 years...we are tall and large and have large dogs that sneak up and join us. If you are light weight then they will last longer.
I know I won't buy another pillow top.
Consider a less expensive firm innerspring model and add your own 3" talalay latex topper and wool fleece pad.

Also consider a 6" firm talalay latex mattress.
