How come my sense of direction leaves me as soon as get in my car?
Question:I have no problem finding my way on foot but, put me in a car and my brain just dies on me.
Answers:
Maybe you just need more practice in the car to hone the same skills you have on foot.
Or dare I say it, your mind is kept so busy by the immediate demands of driving, subconscious things like a sense of direction don't get the chance to influence your brain and it's decisions.
It's probably because there so much other stuff you have to concentrate on while you are driving. Get yourself a Sat Nav and relax.
As rolinol suggests, to ease your fears, install a satellite
navigator .
WRITE youself a reminder note of such subject. that's what i spend time doing when i'm like you.''
I blame it on the roads and all the one way systems. Its enough to confuse anyone.
My dad used to be one of these that would say something like, 'it's over there, turn right at the next junction and then a left' he was always right... until the day came when we were in Manchester trying to find a Coroners office. He told me to turn under the arch on my left and hey presto - I was plum in the middle of the fire station with all the firemen practicing with their ladders and the like. I drove around them in the hearse, smiling and waving (how embarrassing) and then drove out of their yard. Turned out the Coroners office had been there about 20 years earlier!
LOL I have the same problem and I work in an office with property descriptions and maps all day! It is really embarrassing. I purchased one of those little compass things that stick to your dash, it has bailed me out quite a few times.
