My sister has some bushes that look like dogwood, but she said she has not seen any flowers on them this year?

Question:We cut some of them to the ground 2 years ago, but the ones in the woods have not bloomed yet either? Will they ever bloom? She just moved there 2 years ago...

Answers:
Well I have never heard of a dogwood shrub (bush), only trees. But to increase blooms you have to find what your soil is lacking to produce the blooms. My suggestion is to go to your local nursery and ask them about the shrub for you area, maybe take a picture with you, ask them what is needed to help produce blooms. Different areas sometimes need more or other than some. But you local plant nursery should have your answer.

If you got a late frost, that could have killed the bloom buds before they opened. Check the leaves against a known dogwood tree to make sure that really is the type of shrub it is. Many trees look similar to each other but are really not the same.
