When you leave the house, do you ever think about if you closed the garage door, or left the stove on or ?
Question:Tell us about what items or things you always think you forgot to turn off and it stresses you out. For example, once a week, I drive back home to see if my garage door is closed, or if I turned the stove off, or if I turned the heater off.
Answers:
I worry that my hubby didn't turn the coffee pot off or that I left my curling iron on, or I didn't lock the door.
I worry about leaving the iron on.
OCD?
Yes...curling iron, coffee maker, lock the door ?
Now though after a few years of doing that .I learned to make a mental check of those things before leaving the house.I pause at the door ..check the lock.then run through the checklist in my mind and anything I'm not sure of I re-check before I leave.
Sometimes I worry that I didn't turn my curling iron off.
Now when I am finished using it, I unplug it. That way, I know it is off and I don't have to worry about it all day.
yep...garage door...turn around and check...not stressed though
MY curling iron or straightening iron. I'm so afraid it's going to burn the house down. Although they both shut off after a certain amount of time. And if I locked all the doors to the house.
I always worry about those kind of things especially after leaving on a trip. I know I have checked them but it doesn't seem to help. I worry I left the stove on, the gas grill on, the iron on and the clothes dryer. Many times I go back home unless I am miles away and even then I will call a friend to check it out to make sure. I know how you feel. I finally went to my family doctor and he helped me.
This seems to be a female trait...to worry about what device left plugged in, on, running, open, etc. Guys tend to be less worried about that as they live a much simpler life. Yes I've left the garage door open when I have backed my truck into the drive and don't look back. However: No Worries. I'm hoping someone will take a load or 2 from the garage mess. Hasn't happened yet.
I spend most weekends at my farm out in the country & the rest of the week im in my house in the city,i have worried about the usual things leaving on lights, fans ,other electrical appliances, leaving doors unlocked, horrible fact is I have no way of returning to check. After several years of frustrating thoughts I have convinced myself that leaving without a thorough check ,list in hand, can be a major sin.Now that this has become a habit,I have said goodbye to unnecessary worries.
