How to get rid of daddy long leg spiders?
Question:My house is infested with daddy long leg spiders. Not the venemous ones that don't spin silk webs. But the ones that are harmless and do spin silk webs. I realize they are harmless but I suck up at least 3 a day in my vacuum. At 3 a day for a month, I'd end up with 90 spiders in my house in just one month. Can you imagine if I just left them all alone. I'd have a house full of spiders. They are creepy and my children are terrified of them. I need to know how to get rid of them. Please someone help!!

Just to clarify. daddy long legs are harvestmen. They are not true spiders. They do not spin silk webs at all, and are not even capable of producing venom. What you speak of is probably a Cellar Spider. They look a lot like daddy long legs, but their abdomens are often a pearly white color and they are of course, on webs. They do create venom but are not harmful. You can bomb the house if necessary. They really are harmless and if you can tolerate vacuuming them up, it would be cheaper and then you wouldnt have to fuss with insecticides in your house.
Mint... Spiders in general hate the stuff, buy some fresh stuff at the grocery store and place bits of leaves all over the house especially around doors windows and the garage. Good luck!
Chinese Chalk; ONLY place it in doorways and windows. Don't use too much; over-exposure could make a person sick, especially children.
To get rid of ANY spiders, put cedar chips into the toes of old pantyhose and hang the hose in those areas where the spiders spin their webs. To discourage spiders from starting webs. To discourage spiders from starting webs spray rubbing alcohol on the spots where you see they are at or certain areas where you may think they will be. or leave perfumed soap chips scattered about.
Most types of indoor spiders like high humidity or damp places in the home, if you can buy/use a dehumidifier and keep the relative humidity in the house low the spiders will diminish over time.
