Getting rid of next doors Ferrets?
Question:My work colleague is plagued by next doors Ferrets, 3 of them that are in her garden and at her back step, she doesn't want to go to war with the neighbours, and doesn't think they would respond well to a neighbourly chat so any subtle actions that would keep them away welcome, she has a dog but it is daft
Answers:
A hungry cat or dog should scare them away.
a pellet gun?
the answer is simple you can,t be too subtle about ferrets,i would tell her that you do not like the idea of ferrets being on the loose in the garden, they are going everywhere, they would be better in hutches etc.if she does not respond to that ,then i would tell her i am going to report her,i certainly would,nt like the idea of ferrets on the loose next door to me,they,re not always friendly you know.
What is the problem you have with your neighbours ferrets?
I have twelve with 4 litters to come, maybe your neighbour would like some of mine.
In some states it is illegal to have ferrets running loose. I think California is one of these states. They can go native and become a real problem.
Your colleague should invest in a hav a heart trap. Catch them and drop them off at the humane society. These neighbors aren't interested in the health and welfare of their pets or they wouldn't let them run loose.
Another angle on this would be on the liability front. What if a visitor tripped over a ferret and was hurt or perhaps startled by one of these rodents and had a heart attack? I can think of a number of different possibilities, non of which are good.
The only thing she really can do is talk to the neighbors. My mom has a similar problem with her neighbor's cats, and I keep urging her to go and talk to the people. Your friend would not be wrong to ask them to make sure that the ferrets are properly contained. Also if the neighbors don't cooperate, she should talk to an animal control officer. I have had ferrets for years and would never dream of letting them run around outside by themselves, and if they are being housed outside it is even worse. If you are in California, then ferrets are illegal and unfortunately if you friend went to an animal control officer, the ferrets would be taken away and put down. If the neighbors don't care about that, then they don't deserve to have pets.
Get a cat, a big one with sharp claws.
