We are expereincing uncomfortable heat from sleeping on a memory foam mattress.?
Question:Does anyone have a similar expereince? What can we do besides get a new mattress? (we already put a "cool topper" on it)
Answers:
If the "cool topper" didn't work, you can try a pillow top pad. My girl and I recently purchased a memory foam mattress and had the same problem. The "cool topper" was recommended by the store we bought the mattress at, but it didn't work for us either. We bought a pillow top pad from Wal-Mart that worked rather well, but it takes away from the memory foam slightly. Good Luck. I know the mattress wasn't cheap, hope it works out as well for you as it did for me.
Those memory foam mattresses *are* warmer than traditional beds. That can be good or bad, but it is just a characteristic of the surface. There is not a whole lot you can do other than experiment with different types of covers. I am not sure what a "cool topper" is, but if you haven't tried a pillow top, try that. Look for the most firm and supportive one you can find--they will feel cooler than softer types. Good luck!!
Yes - We have one and that is one of the problems. In the winter the mattress is firmer, but in the summer time it takes on the consistency of a warm marshmallow. Just turn the a/c down
We have a 3 inch Memory Foam topper on top of our regular mattress. I could not sleep on it, as it was very warm (we live in TX, so I feel you on the heat & humidity). I went to Marshalls and purchased a Ralph Lauren pillowtop mattress pad. It cost around $40, I think. Wow, it made all the difference and I now sleep wonderfully.
Do you have a fan or ceiling fan to blow the air cooler.I found that to be true for my pillow top set also. You sink in and the mattress is around you and it gets hot.I put an Egyptian mattress pad and a fan on me.Worked.
