What are the different types of roses?
Question:
Answers:
There are so many to choose from. Most of the modern roses that you have in your garden today, are descended from crosses between the old China roses, and the early European roses, such as Damask, Albas, etc.
For non technical purposes, you can group them into several areas.Modern Roses, Old (or Heritage) roses - but every classification has sub classifications!
The most popular modern roses in gardens today, generally fall under these headings.
Hybrid Teas. This is the standard large flowered rose (repeat flowering)
Floribunda. These tend towards smaller flowers, but larger trusses of flowers.
Climbers: This is a form rather than a "type", I would say. Many of the older roses fall under this catagory.
English Roses. Possibly my favorite.a fairly modern class, bred by the English rose breeder, David Austin. These combine the best of old and modern roses. Repeat flowering, and lovely fragrance.
