Moth problem in our house.?

Question:We have a moth problem in our house 12 months out of the year. It started with an undiscovered bag of nuts in our kitchen that went bad and the moths went everywhere. They seemed to concentrate around the carpet in our bathroom and also in my office which is on the other end of the house. The office shares a flimsy wall with that bathroom. We have cats and sometimes the dry food ends up on the carpet in the bathroom every once in a while. The carpet gets vacumed once a week and a shampoo treatment every once in a while.

Is there any moth blocking pet safe thing I can put on the carpet. I am assuming the carpet is where they are living even though I rarly see the moth larve in it. I was thinking moth balls would work and putting them everywere in that bathroom but not sure if that would just move the problem. I would rather kill the problem first then do mothballs.

Any ideas or products to use is appreciated.
