Lemon seeds please help!!?
Question:I want to plant a lemon seed and was wondering...l?
Can i just throw a regular lemon seed from a lemon into soil? i'm not incredibly worried about it growing fruit. I just want to know if it'll sprout or if i have to do something to the seed before planting. THanks!
Answers:
just throw it into soil...
You can sprout most seeds on damp paper towels kept in a Tupperware container. Then, once they sprout, you can transfer the good ones to pots.
Straight to pot might work and might not.
Just put it in the potting soil (make sure you have a thin layer of gravel at the bottom), water it, and keep it in the sunlight. It should start out fine. It will need a bigger pot later, but give it a while to get bigger before you freak it out by ripping it up from its home and giving it a new one.
it should work, just throw it into soil and keep it hydrated.it should work pending the seed doesnt have any defects i.e.the she seed is old,or cracked.
Take a few and start it as a potted plant. It needs a warm enviornment, so if you live anywhere northern US then you're out of luck. But assuming you have the right climate, then start potted, and if it sprouts then you have to take extra care. Trees take forever to grow, just so you know. So transfer it from pot to pot as it grows, and if it ever becomes too big for a pot (this will take many years) then you can accually put it in your yard or somewhere. It'll prolly be atleast 10-15 years before it bears fruit.
you could put it in a small flower pot...fill pot with potting soil...plant the seed about 1/2 in deep and cover...if you have any miracle grow would be good...cover pot with plastic wrap to make like a green house affect ..set in the sun...make sure soil don't get dry but don't over water either.you should see some sprouting in about 3 to 4 weeks...when plant starts getting to big for the pot you can transplant it in bigger pot or the ground...hope this helps
If you are taking it out of a lemon at the store. Dry it off. put it in a papertowel for a couple of weeks to let it dry well. You can plant it in moist soil, keep the soil moist until it sprouts.
Some people take hard seeds like this (after drying process) put them in boiling water, turn off the heat, and leave them in the water till it cools, then plant it. This helps the harder shell soften for germination.
