Bat in my house?
Question:I disrupted a bat in my house as I went to the toilet, It flew in my bedroom but I cant find the bloody thing! I've moved stuff around but I can't find it. Does anyone have any advice for trying to find it. I've had a good look around. If its resting somewhere in hiding when will it come out, will it become distressed? Am I stupid not to want to sleep in my bedroom after I know its in there? (Slept on my couch last night).

Open the window as wide as you can and it will possibly leave of its own accord as very frightened. I had a bat fly into my bathroom last year, it scared the life out of me, but after initial panic was over, I picked up a light tea towel and threw over the bat, that is the only way you will catch it. Then gently pick it up and release it. It will only come out in the dark and is probably hiding somewhere now. The RSPCA wont do anything, so there is no point in calling.
When the same thing happened to me I opened every door and window and then shake everything until the bat came out it is easier for the bat to get out when everything is open.
Have patience.
In Penzance there are a couple of 'bat' people who give advice and rescue bats. Maybe there is someone in your local area.
It's probably a pipestrel, a very small bat.
They won't hurt you, they are quite cute really. My cat use to catch them.
Contact the RSPCA who may have better advice for you. They may even come round and try and locate it. It would be best to look around the darkest places.
it should be hiding on some dark places in your room or better yet, it moved out already. so i think you should worry no more.
Mate bats are wicked. If you leave a window wide open through the night it'll let its self out. wont be distressed if left alone

A friend of mine had a similar problem - the cheeky bat was eventually found hiding behind a picture on the wall! All the advice about leaving windows open is good, but if you're concerned, call the RSPCA - they might put you onto some 'bat people' in your area who would be able to help you.
