How do I keep birds away from my dog's water dish?

Question:They like to use it as a birdbath, which makes the water dirty and spreads bacteria. But my dog is too lazy to chase them away, and even if I do it, they come back. Is there something I can do?

Answers:
You can change his water bowl to a deeper bowl that the birds will not bathe in, they do not like deep water.but like other answers...put up a bird bath...you can get a really inexpensive one and birds are a benefit to your yard..they eat all kinds of bad bugs...You should think yourself privileged to have them want to bathe in your yard. Many people try attracting birds and have a hard time doing so.

put a real birdbath in your yard..
Put the water dish indoors.
Sit next to the water dish at all times with a shotgun.
Anytime a bird gets within 5 feet of the water dish, fire at it.
Or how about one of those inflatable owls , that worked with my peach tree.
