Yesterday, the pebbles covering my patio were clean. Today, a large patch was dirty. Can you tell me why?
Question:The pebbles are the Solent Gold type. The surface of each pebble in the affected patch is now covered in a thin layer of dirt. The pebbles under the spread of the potted tree are still clean but the leaves of the tree are not dirty. Other exposed patches of pebbles are not dirty. The only unusual thing that happened yesterday was a thunderstorm.

The recent thunderstorms across UK brought and left deposits of a black sooty something or other at the north- and west-facing sides of properties. We got it on the front driveway and it walked-into the garage. The front doormat is filthy with it The rear and east sides of the house are quite clear, lovely and clean in fact. Funny old world.
If you have time to stare at your cobbles you have too much time on your hands!
