Yes, it started off as a test breed of tomato, it was on the market for 3 years, then some obscure regulatory agency took away the growers permit to sell, they lost big money, but the following year, they got reinstated to grow them ( bet you didn't know there are regulatory agencies that keep food on or off the market, depending on genetics, etc?). But the Ugly Tomato DOES exist as a breed of fruit. ( yes, it's a fruit)

only if your buying and selling them, people don't want to buy something out of the shape of a picture perfect tomato, so most of those get used for canning, there's usually nothing wrong with them though so eat away
