I got an OLD truck from my grandmother. It SMELLS like moth balls?
Question:I have tried everything to get rid of the smell. Febreze..cedar chips...charcoal...any ideas that would help me get rid of the mothball smell. Thanks

It seems as if the earlier "answer-ers" think the trunk is the trunk of a car. NOT. Scrub the trunk with white vinegar and baking soda, rinse it out and let it dry in the sun.
i know this sounds crazy, but it works. Take a piece of bread and put a couple drops of vanilla on it and leave it in the car overnight with the windows rolled up. My cat pissed in my Last car during a trip, and i tried everything, that's what finally got rid of the smell
I believe the key to getting rid of the smell of mothballs is by airing out your car for several days, right in the sunshine. Leave the windows and doors open all day, and spray the seats and floor with a fabric deodorizer. You could try vinegar as well.
Oh and the Worst Smell on Earth. If the car's in a garage, get it into the sun! Open the doors and windows, and let the breeze blow through. Lots of air circulation is needed to dissipate the smell; a fan aimed through the open doors will help. It may take several days. If the odor continues to linger, try an enzyme-based pet-odor remover.
Mothball odor in clothing is easier to eliminate, because garments can be put in a dryer on air fluff (no heat) and tossed with several fabric-softener sheets. In a few minutes, they'll smell fresh. I wish you the Best and Good Luck.
I don't know what it is with the old people and moth balls! My Dad's house smelled like moth balls and dirty dog. Time is the only thing I know of that will get rid of that smell. Have you looked under the seats to see if they melted on anything under there? Look and see if anything looks shiny like something melted on it. You may have to wash under the seats!
Use Odor Ban to clean carpet and seats. then, for odor elimination, i know you said you tried charcoal. I found a great activated carbon product that is fantastic - not just charcoal. It is a natural activated carbon product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Just put a few in your trunk and also car. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and internet. Definitely worth trying
