Did I get ripped off?
Question:I paid $450.00 for a site evaluation and afterwards found out that I'm gonna have to get a mound system. After I talked to the site evaluator she said she was looking at the map and it looks like my land is better in certain areas than others. Couldn't she have told me that I'd probably have to get a mound system from just looking at the map instead of doing soil core samples etc..?
Answers:
Logic would tell us that the first thing they would do is look at the topo map and have the discussion with you that it appears that a mound system may be your best bet.
Honestly though, if the elevations are close... the only way to truly tell is to do the cores, and soil analysis to identify the best system.
Not to say that you got ripped off... someone else could have charged you $600 for the same info. :)
Hard to say, Depends on what you doing.
Sometimes there is no way of telling, Unless you get down there and look...
Maps cannot tell what the perc rate of the area is. When I had my system contracted, the tester had to certify the perc rate with the County. Only way to do that is core samples.
