Cockroach killers - mortein or baygon?
Question:I live in the UK and miss our super strength insect killers back home and forgot which brand is better? I struggle with cockroach eggs too cause we live next to a pub! - which brand is better?
Answers:
Mortein and Baygon are toxic even for us humans. when you spray it settles everywhere not just on cockroaches and their eggs.
I'll give you a simple but very effective remedy - MOVE !
No I was joking! Now here is the actual remedy -
Take about 100 gms Boric Powder.
1/2 cup Ghee or Butter.
1/2 cup flour.
1/2 cup sugar.
Mix all the ingredients into a dough and make tiny balls out of this. Leave them lying around your place. It will kill the cockroaches. Be careful if you have a small child at home. You can then keep them out in the night on a piece of paper and pick it up next morning. You can keep reusing this stuff. Very effective.
The secret will be to change products routinely. If it is german cockroaches you are having trouble with (about 1/2 an inch long and plenty of them), then they have an amazing ability to build up a resistance to any particular chemical (and in some cases groups of chemicals). The secret is to change products you are using on a regular basis, but be sure to check the active ingredient on the can, because a lot of the off the shelf products you buy will have the same product in them, just a different label. If you are beside a pub, then it would more than likely be german cockies you are dealing with. In many cases, if their population has grown to a large infestation, then you would probably be best off ringing a pestie, because after the cost of about 20 cans of spray, it would be cheaper to get a pro in.
Also, just moving as some have suggested will not work because they will be entrenched in your appliances, unless you move and buy everything again, you will only move them and their eggs to your new premises.
