I love my gas cooktop, because I think it cooks more evenly. I can adjust the flame to any specific height, whereas with the electric you only get to choose between a few settings.
Of course, I grew up with my mother cooking with a gas stove, so I am sure that influences my choice, too.
Personally I think gas hob and electric oven.
Gas hob is far more responsive than electric.
Electric fan ovens cook faster and better.
I personally prefer gas because you can control the heat better, when you turn of the hob on a gas cooker it goes off straight away, whereas on an electric cooker the element stays hot for ages, if you don't want gas but want the versatility of it try a halogen hob as they are better than regular electric or ceramic hobs. as far as the oven part is concerned electric ovens take ages to get up to temperature whereas gas ovens get hotter quicker.

Gas cookers are better, as you have more control, they are safer, and cheaper.
You have more control as you instant control over the power, twist the nob and the flames go down. An electric hob takes ages to heat up and longer to cool down.
They are safe, because even though gas leaks can blow up you home, when they are off they are off. Where as an electric cooker stay hot for ages which little or no visible sine. You drunk friend or children are very unlikely to rest their hands on an open flame.
Gas is cheap then electricity. Cooking electrically is crazy when you think about it. They burn the gas to make heat, some of the heat gets turned into electricity, it looses more power when it goes down the cables, just to make heat on your cooker. Of you can just use gas to make heat and cook food.

Gas is cheaper, but an electric fan-assisted oven is brilliant. I would go for a gas hob abd electric oven/grill as the ideal combination.
Gas, you can controle the heat. Electric ones stay warm, its really a b**** cooking on them.
. It's all a matter of personal preference. Personally I prefer electricity but gas is more instant. Then you can get dual fuel cookers with gas hobs and electric ovens. or visa versa. It doesn't always apply that gas is cheaper it all depends on the supplier. Hope this helps
