Hose nosel guns keep breaking.?
Question:Does leaving the water on for an extended period of time break my garden hose guns? They keep breaking down, gone trough 3 in 1 month.

Unfortunately, you did not describe the nozzle (gun) type, or what you meant by breaking.
The garden hose nozzles are generally produced in two different types
1) Twist Nozzles – are the type you twist on and off.
2) Squeeze (Trigger) Nozzles – are the type that you must squeeze to make the water flow, they often have a Knurled Nut on the back of the Stem that is moved against the trigger that allows the nozzle to be held in the open position without continuing to hold the trigger.
If you are using the garden hose nozzles (guns) with a standard household water supply, the pressure would be below 100 PSI. At that pressure leaving the nozzle open would not break the nozzle.
Nozzles that are not defective, or damaged by abuse (dropping or dragging) would not fail due to the normal changes in temperature that occur during summer months.
Allowing a nozzle to freeze with water in it, can and will, more often than not, cause the nozzle to break as the water expands as it freezes. Since you said the nozzle was being used for extended use I will assume the nozzle was not frozen.
The Twist Nozzles seal on an O-Ring located between the inner and outer housing. These generally fail when debris (dirt) gets between the inner and outer housing causing the nozzle to jam and making it impossible to shut it off.
The Squeeze (Trigger) Nozzles are more complicated and therefore have more things that can go wrong. These generally fail when the stems are damaged making it impossible to shut it off, or when debris jams the trigger.
Since normal use would not account for a problem, some things that might account for a problem are:
1) Trying to use a Garden hose nozzle with high pressure water.
2) Using water loaded with debris that jams the ID of the nozzle.
3) Using water that is loaded with chemicals (such as fertilizer) that cause the internals of the nozzle to corrode together.
And the most likely problem is CRAPPY nozzles. If you do not have any of the conditions listed above try a QUALITY brand nozzle.

maybe you should try a more costly one and not a cheap one. you get what you pay for
When not using the hose, the water should be turned off. Heat from the sun expands the water and the nozzle and causes breakage.
Go to a home center and buy contractor grade nozzles.
Spend the money on a good gun.. And turn off water when not in use, then go back to the gun and relieve the remaining pressure......
