How much does it cost to hire someone to come and open a swimming pool for summer?
Question:We just bought a house that has a small inground pool and jacuzzi. We just took the cover off and it is all green and full of leaves. Gross. I just want to hire someone to come scoop all the junk out...shock it with chemicals or whatever and make it clean. I just don't want to get screwed because I don't have any idea about the price.
Answers:
If you have a ton of leaves in the pool it should cost approximatly $200.00-$300.00 for the added labor of removing them. A fair price for opening a pool that is not full of leaves would be about $150.00-$175.00
Too much.
Do it yourself.
The company that I work for would have charged around $300 - $350 for a green pool 10 years ago. That was the going rate and everyone charged it. The job you are speaking of would take 2 employees a few hours to remove the debris and then 2-3 trips to add chemicals and vacuum out the dead algae.
If you don't want to get screwed, check the local Better Business Bureau before hiring someone. Also, if you are just now inquiring of opening your pool, you can expect a minimum of a 1 week wait time for them to do the work.
