I need to open my above ground pool but I can't figure out how to turn the filter on...?

Question:I bought a house with a pool that now needs to be opened. I have never owned a pool... someone told me to check the breaker but it was already in the on position.

Answers:
It's may be a little more involved than just throwing a switch. There may also be some sort of time clock somewhere that turns the pool pump on and off, or a switch or timer on the pump itself that may do this as well.

Once you find them, as long as the pool is filled to the proper level, any valves are in the correct position, simply open the air relief valve on the top of your filter (assuming there is one... usually is), turn the pump on, let it run until a steady stream of water come out of the air relief valve, and then close the air relief valve. (This removes all air from the filter tank.)

If it's a DE filter, now's the time to add new DE..
