Squirrels re eating my fruits, how do stop them?

Question:I have a variaty of tropical fruits tree, the squierls are eating them, specially the mangos, now they are going into my avocados.

Answers:
Good question! This is what I do:

1. Hang a big yellow baloon with silver strips. You can get them at any nursery store. The flashes of silver startle them.

2. Get an inflatable owl, or a plastic one. They sell them in nursery stores too. However, squirrels are smart and end up learning the scary looking thing does not even move. So, place it in different spots often.

3. My shepherd charges at them in such a way that the mere sound of opening the basement hatch door gets them running for higher ground!

Shoot them. Totally kidding!! You might want to set some traps though and then release them into the wild.far away from your plants :-)
If the trees are tall enough, and branches are high enough. You can temporally wrap the trunk loosely with aluminum roof flashing. the flashing is to slippery to climb. Get a have a hart trap, and put some of the fruit in it. You will catch them in no time flat. If they can get to the trees from the top then you have to cover them with deer netting temporarily also. If you need deer netting I can email you a good fast place to get it at. GOOD LUCK.
