Can rats climb on wall?

Question:

Answers:
They do at my house. I've seen them on the stucco siding of my house, climbing brick, stone and slump block retaining walls, concrete walls, interlocking paver walls, a cedar fence and just recently the 4 x 4 post between the siding of the wall of my garden shed. What is worse is that according to my pest control expert, they can get inside a hole the size of a quarter! We're on rat patrol at our house, we have mutant rats the size of small cats and are constantly amazed at how these rodents can get just about anywhere they want to.

If it is anything other than flat and smooth, probably. They can cling to small imperfections. A brick wall would usually not be a problem for them.
depending upon the surface material.. yes..
Brick, stone, cinder-block most definitely.. They use their claws so if they can get a grip, they can ride on up..
Glass and aluminum siding no,
vinyl depends upon whether it is old and they can get their claws into it..
Wood, depends upon the surface sealant. Hard surface paint lowers possibility.. stained wood siding yes...
This will also depend somewhat to the relative size and strength of the rats.. but I have seen average field mice and rats climb many of these surfaces.
Would not surprise me one bit I think they could climb strait up a glass wall dam critters
