I am going to buy a new gas cooktop and am undecided about the models out there. Please enlighten me.?
Question:I would prefer to hear about Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Amana. Please include models numbers.

I know you asked to hear only about the cooktops you mentioned but please, bear me out. I had a home built that was completed about a year and a half ago. I was going to have a Kitchenaid gas cooktop put in but decided to spend a bit more and get the Wolf 5 burner cooktop because of all I had heard and read.
I have several friends who've had Wolf cooktops and also know people who've had all of the others you mentioned. I will tell you that they're all good but if you want a cooktop that is not only extremely easy to clean but offers many more levels of heat temperatures, you would have to go with Wolf. With the Wolf, you get low, medium and high AS WELL AS another even lower setting of low, medium and high. Also, with the 5 burner Wolf cooktop you get a much higher BTU on its biggest burner than any of the other cooktops. I have three smaller burners, another one that is large and then the largest one that is the big gun. Between the ease of cleaning and so many heat settings on each burner, I cannot fathom having any other kind of cooktop. Now, with most appliances, you do get what you pay for, so keep that in mind as well. If you truly like to cook AND you plan on living in your home for a long time, go ahead and spend a little more for this appliance that you will use every day of your life AND that you will NOT be replacing for a very VERY long time. You won't regret the decision, I promise. (Everyone I know who has the Wolf cooktop has had one of the other brands you listed and also the Viking and Dacor. As for SubZero..they MAKE Wolf cooktops so there IS no SubZero cooktop per se.) So you have a choice to make, but please don't make a decision solely on price.the difference in price over the course of YEARS is very VERY minimal and not even worth thinking about when you divide the difference in cost over all the years you'll use this cooktop. What you WILL get is years of satisfaction. GOOD LUCK!!
Have you tried the whirlpool website? You can compare and contrast the features of any of their models...BTW they (whirlpool) owns all of the brands you listed above. I am guessing you know that.
Kitchenaid is usually considered top of the line without going to Viking, Sub Zero, or Wolf for the true gormet. Whirlpool, maytag, and Amana are all comparable units.
whirlpool, they are easy to clean,and very affordable.
