What happens if you dont get a permit before putting in an above ground pool?
Question:I am buying a pool and the store said I didnt have to have a permit but I worry. I am having a deck built and know that the workman will get a permit for that. So when the inspector comes he will see the pool. What will happen? I live in North Carolina.. is that matters
Answers:
Call your local building inspector or county/city inspector to double check. If you need a permit and fail to have one then you risk fines.
Also, check your homeowners insurance. Many people purchase pools only to find they get a HUGE hit to insurance premiums after installing it.
Just call your local city hall and ask if there is an ordinance in place for needing a permit for an above ground pool. If they say, yes, tell them you want a copy of the ordinance. If they say no, put in your pool with no worries. In my town, we really dont need a permit for anything, but I do live in a small town. I know cities are a different story.
i don't think you need one, but the city you live in has specific rules. You would need to check with them. Call city hall and explain your issue. they will patch you through to the right dept.
I wouldn't worry about an above ground or below ground pool...
The only thing that you need permits for are for construction where electricical and plumbing have to be put in...
But too if it's being installed, then the installers take care of this too...
You can also call your local Chamber of Commerce to ask them for more details if you really need them.
Hope this helps.
