How to get rid of snakes around my house, i'm assuming they are garden variety, black and yellow?
Question:a thin but long one has been sliding under my storm door and curling up between the two doors. i'd rather not use poison, and i live in massachusetts.
Answers:
I have snakes in my yard that sound similar to your description. I have never found them between my doors though. If you could somehow put a tight sealing gasket on the storm door that would help. If you put something in between the two doors that would not prevent them from getting inside, they would just curl up underneath.
I found one in my basement a few years ago. It came inside through an open and unscreened basement window --- scared me to death!! I let them live --- outside where they belong.
Block the storm door area each night and it will find another place. Also, do you have a lot of bugs around? Snakes love bugs.
Get a cat. Cats will kill them if they are the small garden ones. They dont like them, they will kill them on site. Cats are extremely fast and brutal if they want to kill something. A snake is something they will kill.
Well youcould put trapes
try putting out some old fashion mothball, they put off a smell that snakes, mice and other rodants can not breath and they leave, this works great under mobilehomes,in basements, ect
Just catch it and move it away from your door. As long as it is not a dangerous snake they are good to have around because they eat other pests.
MOVE!!
they are very beneficial critters to have around the yard they eat garden/yard pests...try to relocate it further from your house...they are harmless, so don't be afraid!
I'd simply leave them alone, they are beneficial animals in that they eat vectors, animals that spread disease.
If you don't have small children or pets around, the moth balls work well, just scatter them around the house.
have some boys visit you
