How to make inground pool less deep?
Question:I have inground pool that came with the house we bought. The problem is that the deep end is really deep (10 feet). All we can do is swim in it and not play games. Its also too deep for our grandkids to play in. Is there some way to make it less deep. I thought about filling it in with sand and adding a pool liner on top. I a have also thought about filling a large pillow tank with sand and sinking it. If we could just make the deep end maybe 6 feet rather than 10 feet that would be good enough.
Any ideas?

Either don't fill it so full, however the other end might not have enough water, the best idea would be to go to a pool place and ask them if they have liners or such that are made just for that.
If you don't want to have it permanent (those grandkids will grow up at some point and want to dive in with their friends) if the pool is small enough in the area you want to make less deep you could get a few large concrete bricks and put them on the bottom and then place a piece of thick plexi-glass plastic on top. You'll still be able to clean it well more so if there's a filter opening on the bottom, and when or if you want you can move it out easily.
Also if you use any sand it'll be really hard to clean out if you need to later.
Could you let some water out? Or would the shallow end be too shallow...

To add a vinyl liner to the pool, you need coping. It holds the vinyl in place. To put the coping on the pool, you would need to bust up the deck.
You could fill in with dirt.

It may sound obvious, but what about a big block of stone or similar. River pebbles would be good because you can make sure they are clean before you put them in, but you'd need alot...depends what type of pool cleaner you have also..
