How do you get rid of fruit flies?
Question:my house is very clean and there is no old fruit lying around or garbage and everyday i see these tiny little flies(assuming there of the fruit variety)flying around every room,im pregnant and don't want to go nuts spraying them or getting someone in to fix it,what is a natural or better wat to get rid of them?
and why could they be in my house,we live near the beach and winter is on it's way so it's getting cold..if that helps with the info..

I've had the same problem - and we're trying a remedy that we found.
Get an odorless jar, as small as a baby food jar, or as large as a pickle jar. However, don't use a pickle jar, considering it carried a lot of odor. Put a chunk of banana in it, and the put plastic wrap over the top, sealing it securely.
Place it in an area where you've seen the most fruit flies, after poking about 4 - 5 holes in the plastic wrap. The banana will attract the flies, and they will go in the jar, unable to escape.
Empty it every 3 - 4 days, so that their eggs don't have time to hatch. The maggots will be able to escape.
There fungus Nat's just use the vacuum cleaner and suck them out of the air.
I heard of this remedy where you roll up a piece of paper (any paper) and funnel it, leaving a hole big enough for the fruit flies to go through. Then, take a jar, possibly a medium sized one (one you can fit your cat in) and fill it 1/4 with apple vinegar. They get attracted, then the fruit flies get trapped by the funnel. Easy yet effective remedy.
If you have house plants they may be gnats that hatch in the soil. You can get sticky sticks in any garden centre and put in plants or hang on walls where you see them the most. The yellow strips will attract and catch them all ASAP!

I hate when that happens.
If they are the little pests I'm think of, leave a sink of water in your kitchen, gross, I know, but someone told me to do that and I came home from work and there were a bunch of dead ones there. I just drained and rinsed the sink and went to town with the comet to clean it. Did that for a few days and they were gone. Are they like little nats?
