Wash everything down with vinegar they dont like it, but it may drive you out too. I read if you draw a line of chalk they wont cross it I dont know if its true though I have never tried it.
Boiling water
good question... I'll have to check your answers later. I'm just glad that ants are the only thing running around my house besides me and my retriever...(edit) I've heard of that nippon i guess it really does work
Ask them really nicely to go, if they don't send them a letter. If they are still there, then I would ask your local council to put up an eviction notice on their ant hill front door! If this still doesn't work, then it is time to get tough, I would organise a picket!
Basically, you need to treat the entire outside perimeter or your home. Check your windows and doors to be sure there are no gaps. Do a thorough house cleaning, keep your trash bagged, and this should help. You sort of have to use some insecticide, as this pushes them away from your home.
I use talcum powder to get rid of ants its safer if you have children about .
There are ant traps available from DIY stores or even your general supermarket. You can use bleach, diluted in hot soapy water, and find where the ants are nesting or 'their run' and wash the area thoroughly. If the ants nest is outside, pour a kettle of boiling water where you think their nest might be.
There is this gel from the company Nippon, it's cheap (about 2pounds) and it comes in a tube. It's a type of feed that they feed on but contains a slow releasing poison harmful to ants. It's so slow, that it'll take about 7 days to wipe out the nest, but it's the only effective ant killing product on the market IMHO. You put some gel down in their path, and they start feeding on it. Before you know it more ants are feeding on it, and then all the ants that have fed on it, take it back to the nest and share it throughout the colony. it eventually gets filtered to the queen, and all the ants eventually (over a period of days) end up with it. within 7 days the sweet tasting food becomes a deadly poison and kills them all including the queen. It's so effective because to them it tastes like a sweet sugary treat. they can't get enough of it.
Failing that, there's always the old theory of 'Ants won't walk over white powder'. You don't have to use ant powder, use talc, or flour, or anything white. they won't cross it. :)
Lemon juice, dish liquid and water.use this mixture when you're wiping the counters down.it does work.unless the ants are different where you are from where I am.
Shew...does that actually make sense...
Cucumber skin peelings laid out on the route of ants will get rid of ants.
Go to pet shop and buy an Anteater.
i have answered this question before.all you need do is put some ordinary salt along their run and hey presto.
Several ways - my Nan uses different methods for different things - salt around the edges of doorways so ants don't cross; sticky paper (think you can buy it in garden stores) tied with string around trees so no trespassers eating the fruit; or if a nest boiling water - the ants will die instantly and the remaining ones will move the nest.
Ants follow scent trails, so wipe hard surfaces regularly with a lemon based cleaner to remove them. Stuff whole cloves down the holes where they come in, the don't like the smell and won't chew through the cloves to clear the hole. Pour boiling water around the outside of the house where you see the holes coming out to persuade them to move away, also if theres a flowerbed on the outside try to keep the soil damp as they prefer it dry. You have to keep at it but you will eventually get rid of them.
If you have a steam cleaner, use that where the holes are as well.
Cover all your entrances and windows and air vents etc with ant powder!
Then spray the ants (or squash them!) as you see them!
This way you are stopping them coming in and only dealing with the ones inside!
