How to care for roses?

Question:My husband bought me a small potted rosebush for Mother's Day and now that I have it, I have no idea how to care for it (besides watering and putting it in the sun). One big question I have is, what do I do when some of the blossomed flowers start to die. Do I leave them or do I prune them off the bush. Any answers would be helpful.

Answers:
I would deadhead your flowers (remove them after they have finished blooming). I would also repot your rose bush. The potting medium they typically come in is crap. It doesn't have enough nutrients and drains water too quickly. Depending upon where you live, I would also start spraying it with an all purpose fungicide if you keep it outside at all. Make sure you fertilize it periodically though. I hope that helps.
