There is a product call Terra (sp?) that worked for us. You put little drops on pieces of card board anywhere you see ants. They eat the stuff, and carry it back to the nest.
There is a spray, you can get called cockroach and ant killer, you spray it all the bottom of skirtingboards and around the externals of doorways and windows, works a treat.
Borid dust and ant bait traps, find out where they're coming from and hit them where it really hurts.
if they are carpenter ants, the big black ones, any product made with boric acid powder works the best
I found Spectracide spray to work well -- it killed my ants immediately! I also put out ant baits so the ants cant take it back and kill the entire colony, solving the problem for good. The ant spray still works a few weeks later after the initial spraying.
