How do I exterminate ants in my appartment?
Question:I live in a second floor appartment and have done so for 2 years now. A few days ago, I noticed some ants in the bedroom coming out from under the skirting board. I sprayed them with poison but now they're back and there are some in the kitchen and on the balcony, too. I have a baby at home and don't want to use any products which will harm him. What can I do?
Answers:
Buy some nippon gel you put a liitle of it down where you see the ants and then the ants eat and take it back to the nest when they do whatever it is they do with it in the nest it kills the nest. My dad had some in his kitchen a few years ago put that down and never seen them since. but buy the gel not powder. i think wilkinsons sell it but maybe google it.
pouring boiling water down the nest will help you there
put some honey down . and have a hammer ready.
Use Bengal brand of ant killer. Works and its enviromentally friendly.
Buy some plug in bug repellents, that noise that they make really drives off the bugs. It works for us, the black widows are the ones we want removed, but the ants are the food, so hopefully driving off the ants, means driving off the spiders....So far so good, we don't notice the ants but the baby black widows, hopefully within the next year we won't have either problem..
Get yourself a nice little pet ant eater? You could call him fred?
Be a great playmate as well for the baby when it gets a bit older?
Get 'Ant stop bait station' I got mine from Sainsburys. The ants take the bait from inside the ant station and take back to the nest, it destroys the nest. Its a clean and easy way to get rid of them just put them down where the ants are they can't resist it.
we had ants once and we sprayed them with fly spray and then sucked them up with the hoover and then sprayed the opening where they was coming in that did the trick, then i moved home.xx
This amy sound silly but get some salt. the sort that comes with a pourer so you acn put it exactly where you want to. Pour a thin line along the edge of the skirting board. Leave it for a few days before you vacuum it up.Also, before you go to bed tonight sprinkle soem over your kitchen surfaces and balcony (you can sweep / clear it up first thing in the morning.
It worked for me.
baking soda, or salt where you see the ants coming in. where they are walking in a line, across that. it repells them.
you can put it down at all entrances you see ants entering.
Ants don't care for mint or citrus, cloves or bay leaves, so think orange peel, peppermint tea, lemon juice, ground cloves, etc. If you can plant mint around the foundations of your home, you may deter them from entering. Vinegar has the same acid as citrus, so use it to clean with and ants won't feel welcome. (It probably erases or overpowers the odor trail other ants have left for them to follow.)
Clean bench tops and cupboards down really well, and then wipe down with a clean damp cloth that has a few drops of essential peppermint oil on it, you may need to apply a few drops of oil a couple of times.
Ants hate the smell of it and it is also environmentally friendly, and safe for humans and children, and no residue powders etc to clean up. And the big bonus is that the room smells fresh and minty. I also want to add that you can put the oil on a cotton ball after cleaning and put in the areas you have ants and that should help too...replace once the smell is gone.
I hope this was helpful,Good Luck! :)
get a flamethrower! nice!!!! roast ant!
