What is the best way to leave my indoor palms at home when I'm on vacation/holidays? I'll be gone about 2 wks
Question:The palms have are in large pots, too big and heavy to give to someone to look after and I wasn't able to get someone to come by my place while I'm gone.
I don't know the name of the palms I have, but they're a fairly common type.

Well, to the best of my knowledge, being formerly from Florida, palms are used to dry and hot conditions. Seeing as though your only going to be gone 2 weeks, I would say give them a really good watering everyday up until you leave, maybe even some plantfood, and leave them be, they should be alright while your gone. It goes 6 months at a time without raining in Florida, so I think they'll be alright. Have a good vacation!
Go to the outdoor section of Home Depot or even Wal-Mart (although Home Depot staff might be more knowledgable about this), or even try to find a nursery in your area. You can buy a compost from Miracle Grow that's called Slow Release or something like that. What it's supposed to do is hold some of the water in the soil and slowly release it over time. Look up the website for Miracle Grow so you get a better idea what I'm talking about, or just go and ask the staff if they sell it.
Give them a good heavy watering before you leave. If temps are not too high they will be ok.
